On Saturday, 22 February 2022, the Moroccan Community Social League in Egypt organized a distinguished seminar entitled "Moroccan Women and Their Role in Sustainable Development in Accordance with Agenda 2030", in partnership with the African Women's Club and in cooperation with Egypt's "Noon" Initiative, under the generous patronage of the African Association — the National Committee of the African Union. The continental gathering brought together pioneering women from Egypt, Sudan and Morocco.
The seminar opened with the Egyptian national anthem followed by the Moroccan national anthem, a scene embodying the deep fraternal bonds between the two brotherly countries. Opening remarks followed: Ms. Amna Fazaa delivered the address of the African Women's Club, followed by the League's President Ms. Karima Ahmed Halim, then Ms. Najat Najah, coordinator of Moroccan women's affairs at the African Women's Club.
The first session was chaired by Ms. Hind Al-Sanani, President of the Moroccan Women Writers' League in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and was devoted to "Moroccan Women and Their Role in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda". It featured a remarkable intervention by Ms. Malika Al-Shiker on the role of women in general, and of women in Morocco in particular.
In the second part of the seminar, Dr. Enas Hossam El-Din, Egypt's coordinator for the African Women's Club and founding partner of the initiative, presented Egypt's "Noon" Initiative and its goals, while Dr. Hanan El-Shazly addressed the topic of "Mental Health: Between Reality and Aspiration".
Rich interventions from the distinguished audience enriched the discussion, before the seminar concluded with the honoring of participating figures, in an authentically Moroccan festive atmosphere of Moroccan tea, traditional sweets and group photos.
The diverse attendance from Egypt, Sudan and Morocco added great value to the dialogue and confirmed the continental dimension of the event, embodying the African Association's motto "the House of Africans" and the mission of the African Women's Club, which brings together the women of the African continent.
This seminar affirms the League's pioneering role in women's people-to-people diplomacy, and its commitment to highlighting the standing of Moroccan women, their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, and the strengthening of bridges between the women of the African continent.
